La Gombe: diving a rock quarry

La Gombe is a quarry that is redesigned for rock diving near the small town of Esneux, near Liege.

There is a centre called CLAS, Centre Liegeois d’Activites Subaquatique) which has taken over the former offices of the La Gombe rock quarry.

There are several sights to see underwater, the best one is an old warplane, an F84 from the Belgian airforce. It is at a depth of 15 m, with an open canopy so you can test the seat. There are other submerged sights and there is plenty of fish around. The maximum depth is 30 m.

Make sure you get in touch with CLAS before you go because as a Scuba diver you need to register, as a freediver its best to check whether you can dive your specific date.

Here is a map of the quarry.
