This is a short paddle from the launching beach at the end of Fraser road (east). You can also hike along the trail with your gear and swim over. It is a shallow dive, < 10 m but has tons of crab if you are looking to get your lunch here. Fulford harbour is busy so you will hear lots of boats coming by but they normally do not come too close to the island.
