Salsbury County Park

This dive site was submitted by Joshua Fullington, a freediver based in Washington.

Ample free and easy access to rocky beach. I dove the site yesterday on high tide. Exchange was from +10 feet to maybe +6 feet so outgoing tide. Current was maybe 0.5 to 2 knots. There was a rip just south of the boat launch that pulled hard away from shore. This would not be a good place to dive on a big exchange.exchange due to current.

Underwater features just south of the launch were rocky beach down to just below low water line where it quickly changed to sparse eel grass and sandy bottom. This maybe 50 yards off shore. Bottom quickly gives way to unknown depths. You could dive very deep here and not be too far off shore. Decent viz. North of the launch viz was significantly impaired. Eel grass was thicker yet less life was seen.

Rock crab were present and signs of dungeness, however that likely was from fisherman using the dock to clean their crab. Other life seen was a large anemone, decent sized flounder, and some shellfish but not a lot.

Overall, beautiful park and nice place to swim. Be aware of boat traffic. This is a very busy dock. 7pm on a weeknight i only saw two boats come in and things were quiet. A weekend trip would have significantly more traffic.
