San Salvador SW wall

This dive site was submitted by Connor Davis.

23 degrees 56′ 16.31″N 74 degrees 33’46.62″ W. This is one spot on a long wall, bottomless, not quite vertical, extends.5 miles west and lots of miles east.

This one is world class magnificent when its clear, vis 50 -200. The current rips parrallel to the wall, drift diving is required. The top of the wall is at about 40-50 ft, deep crevasses cut through the wall, coming out on the wall face at about 90-100 ft. Zillions of all kinds of fish, lots of turtles and sharks, you don’t know what to look at next, heart stopping. I think spearing is prohitited, if not, it should be. It is a place to look and take pictures.

Commercial flights to San Salvadore are available, and there is a Club Med and Riding Rock Inn to stay at. Neither caters to freedivers. This dive rrequires a boat, which can be hard to acquire in San Sal. The site is exposed to prevailing winds, which are usually strong, so something dinghy sized won’t do. Do your homework before getting there.

Lots of other sheltered diving along the west side of San Salvadore, spearing allowed on the north end
